First Club ’51 Get-together – Liffey Arms, Newbridge, Sunday 2nd Feb

National League time is nearly upon us, and it’s at 2pm on Sunday 2nd February that the Green and Red season will throw in in earnest. Purely by coincidence, that happens to be the same day that Club ‘51’s first season will get underway in earnest!

So with that in mind, we invite all you Club ’51 members, your families, friends and anyone interested in joining us in our quest to cheer the boys on to victory in 2014 to come join us from 12.30pm in The Liffey Arms, Main Street where you can sup a 7up or a pint, meet up with fellow countypeople, old friends and new, hatch some plans for the year ahead and just have the craic before the game.

The Liffey Arms is just 100 yards from St. Conleth’s, and undoubtedly the very sight of the green and red army parading down Main Street in such vast numbers will strike terror into the hearts of the Lilywhites and give us the winning edge. Or at the very least, it’ll ensure that no-one gets lost on the way to the game.

So wear your jerseys, bring your flags, and come prepared to make a bit of noise and help us cheer the boys on to a flying start.

We look forward to seeing you there!

GAA Season Tickets 2014 – GAA.ie

As was mentioned in a previous post, the Mayo GAA season tickets are now sold out! Mayo Gaa announced last Friday 10th January, that that would be the last day for accepting applications for the Cáirdre Mhaigheo Season Ticket.

From their website,

Please note that today is the last day for receipt of applications for new Cáirde Mhaigheo Season Ticket Membership. Due to the very high demand and to guarantee you will have your ticket in time for the commencement of the 2014 Allianz Football League, today will be the last day for applications to be received.

Anyone wishing to enquire about the Cáirde Mhaigheo Season Ticket can contact the office of Elverys MacHale Park on 0949250487

During the weekend, the Croke Park Mayo GAA season ticket also sold out. We here at Mayo Club 51 had suspected that this would indeed happen with the Mayo Gaa season ticket this year, due to the success of both the season ticket and the success of the Mayo team over the last few years.

Car Pooling – Anyone stuck for a lift this weekend?

So here’s our first effort. Anne-Marie, I think, came up with this idea, and to be honest it’s something I could have used for a few years before I started getting regular lifts to games. So there’s no excuse anymore, Club ’51 are on the case!

If there’s anyone who can offer seats to one or more fellow fans without wheels, then comment below and leave some details about where you’re driving from, departure time and how many you are willing to take.

Needless to say, any passengers availing of this should throw the driver a few juice dollars to help with expense. Give a little, get a little!

In the next few days, we have a couple of trips around Mayo. Tomorrow, our senior lads play NUIG in Castlebar at 7pm. On Saturday, it’s onto Ballyhaunis for the U21 Hastings Cup game against Cavan at 2pm and to finish off a treble-header weekend, our senior lads take on IT Sligo in Charlestown at 2pm on Sunday. So if you’re stuck for a lift leave a comment!
Happy car pooling!
