The Dates for the All Ireland Senior & Intermediate club semi finals have been confirmed by Croke Park yesterday. Connacht club champions Castlebar Mitchels from Mayo will take on Munster champions Dr Crokes from Killarney in County Kerry, on February 15th next, (Final March 17th). Mayo Intermediate champions Kiltane will take on Clyde Rovers from Cork in the Intermediate semi finals on Sunday January 26th, (Final February 9th). Both Mayo teams are tipped as favourites to win their match’s! Venues & times, which have yet to be decided for both match’s, will be announced next month. It is thought the most likely venues will either be Cusack Park in Ennis or the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
Everyone in Club ’51 wish both Castlebar Mitchels and Kiltane the very best of luck in the semi finals and hope to see them both reach the All Ireland Club Finals next year.
Edit: Kiltane will face Cork and Munster Champions Clyda Rovers in Ballinasloe on Sunday January 26th at 2pm.

The Mayo GAA Senior football team and management have organised a Christmas Banquet and Family day which will take place next Sunday 22nd of December in the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport. This is part of their fundraising drive ahead of the team holiday to Dubai in January. All Mayo supporters are invited to join the Mayo players and manager James Horan for a three course meal at the hotel. The players will be signing autographs and posing for photos with the fans on the day.
The main event of the day however will be the “Slave auction” of some well known names on the Mayo squad, including Aidan O’Shea, Cillian O’Connor and Lee Keegan, who will be auctioned off to the highest bidder on the day! There may also be a surprise guest in a red suit on the day. Adult tickets for the Banquet Dinner cost €100 and children’s tickets for the Banquet cost €10. Some of the proceeds raised on the day will go to charity with the rest of the proceeds going towards the Mayo Senior Team Holiday Fund. For more information and tickets, contact the MacHale Park office, Castlebar on (094) 9250487 or Michael Diskin on (087) 6680115.

The Mayo GAA Convention 2013 was held in Breaffy House Hotel on Sunday last 8th December. The County Board’s overall income and expenditure both topped the €2 million mark in 2013, with a small surplus of €69,155 reported for the financial year of October 31, 2013. The cost of preparing the Mayo senior football team increased by almost €170,000 last year, with the trip to Miami last January costing ‘in the region’ of €156,000. Croke Park provided a grant of €80,000 for the trip with the County board paying the remainder €76,000. Travelling expenses cost more than €405,000 compared to €271,000 in 2012. Medical and catering expenses also rose in 2013. That left total expenses for the senior team for 2013 at €646,440, compared to €480,334 for last year. On a more worrying note though, the amount spent on coaching and games development in Mayo fell by almost €40,000 in 2013 to €277,498. Gate receipts for the year were down almost €20,000.
